The Ascension of Helen!

The Ascension of Helen is complete.  Direct family portraits are meaningful and fullfilling but a family Dream-portrait runs deeper still.  The possibilities are endless.
Dan's island in the sky is the oasis.  The soothing waters of home cool the burning hot nightmare.  Helen ascends peacefully, guided by her yellow balloon.  Yellow is the color of intuition.
Jessica's magical trash truck is sucking up the terror and sprouting the tree of life

The nightmare!  The beast.  The fear of death.

Persian Torrit

Here is my submission to the Torrit Grey competition.  Each year Gamblin sends out free Torrit Grey to all the art stores.  Since I've worked at both Plaza and Utecht this past year i done GOT some Torrit Grey.  Thanks Paria for posting those Persian playing cards.  I stole that.  I'm talking with my vinyl guy about printing this large on clear vinyl for a local restaurant

Meanwhile, the dream continues...

The Cricket in Gloria

Now she is done.  This piece is title The Cricket in Gloria for two reasons.  The first is because there is an actual cricket hidden in this painting.  Secondly this piece is about the impossibility of hiding our flaws.  There is a bug in my acquisition of glory and there always will be.
I have a message to the people I may have offended, or hurt, or depressed, or stressed during this year and a half long endeavor.  I apologize.

Flamenco Yellow

Then one day I search "Flamenco Yellow" in google and look what pops up.  The real lady that the initial digital painting is based off of.  Now, for the first time I am able to see what is actually going on.

I did some photo-shopping to buy more time.  The above image on the left is what she really looked like after a week of healing from being flayed.
Then Mr. Javad realized I had glued pieces of Rives BFK to the Canvas.  I was forced to remove all of the paper.  So sad ripping off all of Gloria's skin.
My father called and said "He wants you to change this part of the dress.  It looks like a mouth and eyes."  Cool.

Finally, she must be done.  This was around November of 2011 right before I began working at Utrecht Art Supplies.
 Not smooth enough background.
 Take out the squigglies.
July 2011, hope on the horizon.  Thanks to Keenan Derby, http://keenanderby.com/ for making this enormous canvas for me.

Should be simple enough

So One day Mr. Javad watched this video on youtube.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GFF7fhSflIA

At 1:26 a digital painting appears.  THIS is what Mr. Javad wanted.  And he wanted it 9ft tall by 6 ft. wide.

Learning the Flamenco Dance

This story begins 4 and 1/2 years ago.  My family was having a dinner party.  I was a second semester Junior at MICA.  Mr. Javad approached me and said he was interested in a large painting of a Flamenco Dancer.  He wanted it to be "Playing with Paint!" and "Playing with Color!"
This was my first painting attempt.  4 ft. x 7ft.  Unfortunately, the space above the fireplace is taller than wide, so my wide format painting simply wouldn't look right.

Finished!

Finished!

User

The is upper scroll is meant to have multiple readings.  "We BBB" is a saying amongst some of my close friends.  Also "Webbb" for Walter Webb.  He is the owner of The Museum formerly known as The Brass Elephant.  This is Mr. Webb.  His son (who first approached me to do business) is Brandon, hence the extra B.

But the most important reading which many people see is "USER."

All artists should make sure to where gloves when working with Cadmium and Cobalt.

Let me finish where I left off

So, Cherub is a close second to the Seraph.  There's the name of the restaurant again.

Throne

  “As I looked,
“Thrones were set in place,
and the Ancient of Days took his seat.
His clothing was as white as snow;
the hair of his head was white like wool.
His throne was flaming with fire,
and its wheels were all ablaze."
"The Hypercube is a 2 dimensional glyph of a 4th dimensional cube." -Alisa Ruth Alig
This hypercube or Tesseract is borrowed from Sacred Geometry.
Dr. Walker's nightmare forest is growing.

Look at this symbol.  The dots make up the Kabbalah or the Tree of Life.  It is an important spiritual symbol as old as Abraham.  Behind it is the Flower of Life, which is derived from Sacred Geometry.  Still trying to figure out Sacred Geometry...
Don't look at this symbol.  Initially I drew the ancient glyph upside down.  HUGE MISTAKE.  I was told by one of my mystical advisers that it is a demonic symbol when inverted.  Corrections were made.
